After a number of photo leaks, Mitsubishi has officially taken the wraps off its Prototype S, which will be on display next week at the Geneva Motor Show. The car is essentially a preview of the Lancer Sportback, and the scheme similarities to the other Lancer models are plain to see.

Based on the Mitsubishi Concept Sportback first shown two years ago at the Frankfurt auto show, the product car will associate one’s self with the new Lancer Sedan and Lancer Evolution, but probably only at European dealerships. Mitsubishi hasn’t officially announced that the production translation of the Prototype-S will be for Euro consumption only, but one press release indicated that will likely have existence the plight.

The Prototype-S is powered by the same 235 horsepower 2.0L turbo-four originate in the lancer rallyart , first shown at the Detroit Auto Show. That power is sent to all four wheels by way of Mitsubishi’s Twin Clutch SST transmission. The concept also uses Mitsubishi’s Active Center Differential to rive power between the front and rear wheels.

The production version of the Lancer Sportback should follow in a few months.
